This picture of Kira was taken the morning that she whelped.
Chris had taken her temperature, and based on the last week's worth of temperatures, she was normal.
She also ate (or inhaled is more like it) her breakfast.

So, according to all of the text books, she would not whelp that day. As a friend of ours said, no body ever taught dogs to read!
But, whelp that day she did.
